The Bankruptcy
Abuse Prevention & Consumer Protection Act of
2005 requires any
professional who assists or represents consumers in
filing bankruptcy to advertise him or herself as a "Debt
Relief Agency." See Act, ¶ ¶ 226(a)(3),
229.
It is not clear how this
requirement will be implemented or enforced. However, if
it does become important to be included in the category
of Debt Relief Agencies, consumer bankruptcy attorneys
may wish to be listed in this Internet directory of Debt
Relief Agencies.
BankruptcyMedia owns the rights to
the domain name, DebtReliefAgencies.com,
and the address for a future online directory will be
accessible by that name.
If and when we actually set up the
listings for the directory, there will be an annual
listing fee. However, we make no representations about
how necessary it may to be included in such a directory,
or how much client-business it may generate for
you.
